Verso uno schema litostratigrafico dell'Appennino meridionale

Towards a lithostratigraphic scheme of the southern Apennines. The focus is on the lithostratigraphy of the Mesozoic deposits of the southern Apennines, derived form the CARG Project. While the Comitato d'Area l'Appennino meridionale approved the nomenclature and the hierarchy of the lithostratigraphic units, the field mapping is defining the stratigraphic relationships among these units. Two lithostratigraphic schemes are proposed, for the Mesozoic carbonate platform deposits and the Mesozoic basinal deposits. Although the schemes summarizes part of the units mapped within the CARG Project, this could be a starting point for a more complete lithostratigraphic scheme of the southern Apennines, usefull for future geological investigations and for a large scale communication.
